Hello, whomever may be reading this

I just thought I'd post an update for my readership (all two of you =P).

So, when the spring semester started, I put in a request at work for a cut in hours.  This has, of course, meant less spending money, so I haven't been buying as many CDs as I'd like.

The White Stripes call it quits

From the band's homepage:

The White Stripes would like to announce that today, February 2nd, 2011, 
their band has officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live. 

The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any 
health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health. 

It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve What is beautiful and special about 
the band and have it stay that way. 

Meg and Jack want to thank every one of their fans and admirers for the incredible 
support they have given throughout the 13 plus years of the White Stripes’ intense and 
incredible career. 

Third Man Records will continue to put out unreleased live and studio recordings from 
The White Stripes in their Vault Subscription record club, as well as through regular 
channels. 

Both Meg and Jack hope this decision isn’t met with sorrow by their fans but that it is 
seen as a positive move done out of respect for the art and music that the band has 
created. It is also done with the utmost respect to those fans who’ve shared in those 
creations, with their feelings considered greatly. 

With that in mind the band have this to say: 

“The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong 
to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is 
that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your 
involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful.”

Collection update:

Back in October (if not earlier), I pre-ordered the super-mega-ultra-deluxe-whatever package of Weezer's Pinkerton Deluxe and Death to False Metal CDs.  They were due out in stores on November 20th, so I expected to get my package within a week or so.  I waited over a month before the $60 bundle arrived, and I was pretty impatient during that month.  I kept a lid on my anger, and posted a few passive-aggressive complaints to various profile pages over on Weezer.com.  Eventually, I got word from someone who works for the site, and she promised that they'd send me an apology package.  I expected something simple, a webstore gift certificate or something like that.  I received:

-An autographed Hurley poster
-An autographed copy of the ...Happy Record Store Day! EP
-Raditude and Weezer on vinyl
-some Weezer stickers


Needless to say, I was pretty excited.

In a world marked by shameless self-promotion...

This is but one more example.  It's a demo of the song "Shh..." by myself and my good friend Cody, under the name of Stand Up.  Please enjoy.

I'm going to add something to my format

I'm going to start doing reviews of albums I don't own, just to add some variety.  First, I think I'll do Contra by Vampire Weekend.

EDIT: Ok, strike that.  What I'm doing now is listening to albums recommended by IMDb Music General community, starting with Jimmy Buffett's Son of a Son of a Sailor.  I'll be writing short reviews which I will film and post on YouTube, under the username NonExistentReviews.
